What is Busters Rally?

Busters Rally is an organised event that will give you a trip to remember, and wont cost the earth. Driving on some of Europe’s finest and most exciting roads that will test you and your car to the limit, oh yeah and your car must cost no more than £250! Top

What if I break down?

We are unable to support you for breakdowns or mechanical problems; also we wouldn’t want to deprive you of the uncertainty of if you will actually make it to the next stop. However there are some organisations that will give you euro breakdown cover, you can find these in the links page. Other competitors are also very helpful and if you do break down you may be able to get a lift with someone else, so only bring what you are prepared to carry!! Top

What does the entrance fee go towards?

The entrance fee covers a number of aspects, some of which are:

  • Prizes (some routes)
  • Organising the event & route
  • Sticker sets for each car
  • Marshals for the route
  • Party at the end of the event
  • Administration & Running the rally
  • A “recce” of the route
  • Welcome packs with maps, routes and challenges
  • Trophies for all team members
  • Other “goodies” Top

What about cancellations?

If you are unable to make the event for any reason you can cancel within 7 days of paying the deposit, you will then be refunded. When the full balance is paid or after 7 days of paying the deposit, you are unable to receive any refund due to cancellations. However you can change any team member’s names participating in the rally up to 5 days before the event. Top

Can I really get a car for under £250 that will make the trip?

Yes. Ebay is always a good start, be sure to sort the results by distance and price. You can also pick up some cheap cars that your local garage may have lying around that they have taken in as a part ex; another good place is the car auctions. Top

Can I modify my car?

Most modifications that do not affect the safety of the car are ok, if in doubt contact us. “crop tops” are NOT permitted and will be refused entry to the event, however factory build convertibles are accepted. Top

Who is responsible for border crossings/visas?

You. There’s not usually a problem but some people may need visas to enter certain countries, to enter some countries you must have a British passport valid for AT LEAST 6 months. Top

How much can I spend on my car after I have bought it?

You can spend as much as you like to get it through the MOT, and increase the chances of you finishing safely, also you need to think on what you will make it look like, maybe theme it? If you want a chance on winning Busters best banger. Top

How long does the rally last?

Depending on the route but typically 4-5 days. More info on each route can be found on the “adventures” page. Top

What will I need to bring?

There are some items that you must bring, some of which are

  • Mobile Phone
  • Digital Camera

. To make it simple, only bring what you are prepared to carry! Top

Are there any rules?

Yes, obey all rules! Top

What challenges will I be doing?

Well that would be telling wouldn’t it? Basically whatever we see fit to embarrass or make you look silly. Top

Are there any documents I need to bring?

Yes,

  • A valid driver’s licence for all drivers (paper and card part)
  • V5 log book for the vehicle
  • Insurance certificate showing both drivers and euro cover
  • A valid MOT certificate
  • Your passports

Without these documents you may be refused entry to the rally unless otherwise agreed. Top

Do I need a fast car?

No, a fast car is not needed as this is not a race. Top

How much will it cost in petrol?

Well that depends on what you take, if you have a 1.1 fiesta that does 50mpg it will be a lot less than a 3.2 Jag that does 20mpg. Top

Are there any prizes?

Yes on some routes there are, please check the adventures page above, the teams with the highest points will receive:

  • 1st prize – £1000
  • 2nd prize – £200
  • 3rd prize – £100
  • Best painted/dressed car £150

Note: all prizes are per team. Top

When will we know the exact route?

About 6-8 weeks before the event takes place, we will then confirm the best locations/hotels to book with. Top

Can I fly home at the end of the rally?

Yes of course you can, if you don’t want to keep the vehicle you drove down in, we will recommend a scrap yard that will take it off your hands, a small fee may apply. Under no circumstances are you to dump your car as the race organisers will work fully with the local authorities to trace the owners. There are flights out of local cities and if you check out the links page you will find more info on this. Top

Can I do this for charity?

Of course you can, in fact we encourage this and if you raise over £200 we will reduce your entry fee by £15 (a cheque made payable for the amount collected to your charity is required at registration for your £15 cash back on the day of the rally) Top

Is this a race?

No! This is under no circumstances a race. Also any anti social behaviour will not be tolerated and the people involved will be disqualified and not allowed to carry on with the event. Top

When is the closing date?

There is no official closing but the rally does fill up very quickly so please register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Top

Can we theme our team?

If you want to be in with a chance of winning Busters best banger then it would be best to theme your team, if you want some ideas on what themes you could use, or what other people are doing check out the forum. Top

Can we drink alcohol when we get to each destination?

Yes of course you can, but just remember each team must have a sober driver at the start of the event each day and breath tests will be carried out on random drivers. If you are found to be over the limit for the country you are in, you will have to wait until you are under the legal limit. Top

Will my car make it to the end?

If there is no clunking, smoke or overheating then there isn’t much of a reason why your chosen car won’t make it. Top

Will I have to sign a disclaimer?

Yes, all participants will have to sign a disclaimer; this is standard practice in this type of rally. Top

Do I get a discount on group bookings?

Simple answer, Yes. Please contact us before to confirm. Top

I am from another country, can I join in?

Yes of course. You must be able to speak English though. Top

Is accommodation included?

Not unless specified but if you check out the links page you will find links to hotels and a lot of other useful info you might find handy. Top
