Maintenance of Garage Doors
People use their garage doors several times a day, thus exposing it to wear and tear more. That is why it is but important for the homeowners to have proper maintenance of the garage regularly.
People should wash the door's exterior using a brush with mild detergent. One must repaint or do a touch up of peeling, cracked or chipped paint, most especially if the wood is already exposed. Always check for damaged rollers. You can use a socket wrench to loosen out bolts holding the roller hinge in place and remove the ones that are damaged. Then, insert replacement rollers and fasten the hinge bolts. You will need to look at the door tracks to check if it needs alignment or not. If it does, loosen the bolts or screws that hold it to the wall and adjust it, but make sure you do not remove it. If you see that the mounting brackets that hold the track are loose, tighten its bolts or screws. Also, see if there are dents, flat spots, or crimping in them. If there are, use a rubber mallet or hammer only to pound them out, and not a metal hammer, as this can cause further damage. Moreover, secure hinges with new screws to correct doors that are sagging on one side. Also, adjust tension on swing-up doors simply by moving the spring to the next hole.
