The Route & Dates
Welcome to Run To Romania 2011.
Date: 29th July – 3rd August 2011
This route is the most challenging of them all and not for the faint hearted. 2000 miles of potholes, twists and turns. Can you endure 6 days of blood, sweat and tears?? If the answer is yes, then your in the right place!
Run to Romania will take place between 29th July – 3rd August 2011
For Run to Romania the car can be worth no more than £500!!
We recommend that you travel down the night before the rally is due to start but if you are pushed for time you can travel across the channel Friday morning but you must be at the start by 8.30 am. You will then however miss the get together on the Thursday night and the informal registration.
We will be meeting in Dunkerque on the Thursday night at about 7.30pm for registration, If then you have any questions or queries we are on hand to answer them for you. You will receive your welcome pack and documents on the Friday morning prior to the start of the rally.

Day 1 – Dunkerque to Hanover (Approx 380 miles)
We will be meeting in a chosen location in Dunkerque at 8.30am to finalise everything. You will then receive your welcome packs and map, in this you will find everything you need to complete the day’s activities. The first day we will get as much driving done as possible so we can take our time on the rest of the route and enjoy the views, the drive and of course have loads of fun! We will start in Dunkerque and will be travelling through France and into Germany and spend our first night in the beautiful city of Hanover.
Day 2 – Hanover to Wolfsberg (Approx 50 miles)
Wolfsburg to Leipzig (Approx 130 miles)
We will be travelling east towards Wolfsburg which is located in in germany; and while we are there will visit Volkswagen’s Autostadt. Which Volkswagen claims that is is the largest car factory plant in the world. We will spend most of the day at the Autostadt and towards the end of the day we will visit the Volkswagen AutoMuseum which is also located in Wolfsburg and about a 5 minute drive away. We will then leave Wolfsburg and start our short drive down to Leipzig.
Day 3 – Leipzig to Opole (Approx 300 miles)
Leaving Leipzig we will be travelling east through Germany and in to Poland to our next stop in Opole, which has history dating back to the 8th century. Take a look around this historic city for some amazing sights and landmarks.
Day 4 – Opole to Miskolc (Approx 330 miles)
We are now getting close to our final destination, today we will travel south and leave Poland, drive through Slovakia and enter into Hungary. Today we will drive on some amazing roads and see some spectacular views. Have your cameras at the ready!
Day 5 – Miskolc to Targu Mures (Approx 280 miles)
Today we will be leaving Hungary and after 5 days of driving finally entering Romania which is the last country we will visit. This is the reason we have driven almost 2000 miles, but we should have an early night tonight as tomorrow we will tackle the famous Transfargarasan!
Day 6 – Targu Mures – Transfagarasan (Approx 120 miles)
Transfagarasan – Pitesti (Approx 70 miles)
The final day has arrived and today is the day that we get to see the famous Transfagarasan road. We will then head down towards Pitesti for our final night and get together and reflect on this epic journey!
